Introduction

Because of the popularity of reality shows of some bands, the livhouse market is getting more and more popular in China. Ticketing apps on the market contain too much information and promotions, this app narrows down the choice and designs only for people who enjoy live music in livehouses. Aim to solve problems such as expensive second-hand tickets, missed the chance to buy tickets or unable to find the entrance to buy tickets. 

From research and ideation to UI and implementation, I designed Flamingo to allow users to get to know livehouse shows/tickets related information quickly and directly without unrelated promotions and ads.

Research

Flamingo began with ideation, market research, and competitive analysis.

 

Marketing Analysis

I start with marketing research on three popular mobile apps of ticketing service, both inside and outside of China. I analysed the advantages and disadvantages of these three apps, and plan to absorb some of the good things while avoiding some of the bad.

Persona

I posted a 16-question questionnaire online and collected over 200 feedbacks about some livehouse-related questions. By carefully reading the feedback from these potential customers, I have a better understanding of some of the problems in this market and the areas users want to improve.

I also interviews three of my friends to create three personas to better understand the app's needs and goals.

Insights

Expensive Second-hand Tickets

In China, there’s a job called “HuangNiu” that they always buy a large number of tickets online by using robots, and then they sell the tickets twice or even much more than the original price to make money.

Online Ticketing

In China, people basically don’t use paper money anymore, and everyone is using electronic payments. For the ticketing map, paying online and the QR code also have taken the place of physical tickets. 

Personalization

More and more users would like to experiences personalization settings and designs in the app. They want to customize the app and also get personal recommendations based on the previous activities.

Enjoy Live Music

There were a lot of reality shows talking about music and bands in recent years which also caused a trend of going to livehouses or music festivals.

Concept

Find music that you like

Users can find and search their favorite artists or shows by the filters and recommendations.

Get related information

Users can get to know the general and also specific information easily and follow for future events.

Buy tickets online

Users can either buy tickets within the app by credit cards or outside the app by other payment methods.

Enjoy the show!

Users can go to livehouses to enjoy the live shows by showing the QR code of e-tickets on mobile phones.
